Our farm, nestled between the Green Mountains and Lake Champlain, is surrounded by acres of dandelion fields, rolling green hills and maple forests, giving us easy access to the joys of nature. So when we heard about the Japanese concept of shinrin-yoku or forest bathing, we were sold. Tata’s new favorite mindfulness practice encourages venturing into nature and experiencing your surroundings with all 5 senses. This isn’t a hike or a leisurely walk, there’s no starting point or destination. In fact, forest bathing is exceptionally slow paced, highlighting the cracking branches beneath your feet, and the brilliant hues of nature. Forest bathing is thought to have numerous benefits, including stress reduction, improving your immune system, reducing anxiety, improving your mood and reducing insomnia.
