Take Me Away To Le Coucou Méribel

A new year calls for unforgettable adventures — and a ski trip to the most talked-about new mountainside destination in Europe, Le Coucou Méribel, was at the top of our list. Le Coucou takes après ski comfort and luxury to the next level: nestled into the mountainside of the French Alps, this brand new 5-star property was not only outfitted by famed designer Pierre Yavanovitch — it’s also home to a signature Tata Harper Spa! (Our dear friends at Madame Figaro even took notice.)
We traveled to Le Coucou through the stunning landscape of Southern France (an otherworldly experience in itself!). We flew into the romantic city of Lyon and set off for the Alps through lush countryside, stopping for lunch in the medieval town of Chambéry before continuing on towards the peaks on the horizon. A winding road led us to the storied town of Méribel, an authentic, picturesque Alpine town in the Trois Vallées, with beautiful wooden chalets carved into the snowy hills. Here, nestled amongst the glistening snow caps of the French Alps, Le Coucou first opened its doors this past December.

The arrival at Le Coucou is nothing short of a fairytale. Stepping foot onto the property exceeds one’s understanding of romance and serenity — from the hotel’s “slow life” philosophy to the playful, elevated decor and warm and attentive staff — every detail has been accounted for with exquisite care. This experience was sure to be nothing short of magical.
We checked into the hotel on a clear, sunny Sunday morning, where the welcoming team whisked us away to our charming and spacious rooms.
Each of Le Coucou’s 55 rooms and 2 private chalets radiate warmth and hygge, with playful design elements (like teddy bear chairs and warm pops of color) that give a nod to the luxe alpine style of the past (Slim Aarons would feel right at home!). Each amenity is perfectly tailored for your stay as well — from the refreshing Le Coucou Méribel rosé to the plush green shearling slippers — and each element strikes a perfect balance between decadent and rustic.
Stepping onto the private balconies, panoramic views of the French Alps and the ski runs (or pistes in French) remind you you’re on holiday. After It’s easy to see why Le Coucou has become a must-visit destination for guests from around the world.

Skiing at Le Coucou is nothing short of a dream come true. Nestled in the heart of Les 3 Vallées, the largest ski area in the world, the “ski-in, ski-out” location is an undeniable highlight. Ready to hit the slopes? You’ll be immediately greeted by Louis, manager of Le Coucou’s in-house ski shop, and whisked to a chic seating area where you’ll be perfectly fitted for boots while sipping hot cocoa or espresso. Step outside onto the snow where your skis await you on the slope so you can take off for the day.
The experience of skiing in Meribel is unlike anything else. With every turn, every curve, you become more immersed in a white-capped dream world.

Picturesque vistas of Mont Blanc and the surrounding Alps welcome you at every peak, and the long, groomed slopes feel like butter beneath your skis. As we traversed from mountain to mountain, we also discovered true aprés ski culture, with slopeside restaurants and bars serving everything from champagne to local french food and live entertainment. It’s not to be missed!

The dining options alone are another incredible reason to visit Le Coucou. From their unique al fresco dining experience under the panoramic mountain views (that’s sure to take your breath away) to the chic, romantic bar, there’s something for every occasion.
Start your morning at Le Coucou with their delightful in-house breakfast buffet— from warm bread, pastries and French cheese to fresh tropical fruits and juices. In the afternoon, enjoy tea and fresh crepe service (we loved them with a squeeze of lemon and sugar!) and in the evening, listen to live music and sip on the signature “Love Potion” cocktail in the hotel bar.
Throughout our stay, we savored fresh and delicious meals from the hotel’s two restaurants: the internationally renowned Beefbar and gastronomic Italian concept Biancaneve. (After a long day in the cold, we especially enjoyed the delicious, hearty soups served in thick granite bowls!) All in all, it was a culinary experience we won’t soon forget.

The only thing that could make Le Coucou more spectacular? The Tata Harper Skincare Signature Spa, of course! From the six luxurious treatment rooms to the infinity and outdoor trompe-l’oeil pools, hammam, and jacuzzi, it’s the perfect haven after a day on the slopes to slow down and warm up.
In our signature spa, guests have the option to choose from a number of personalized treatments and can even opt for a custom facial curated specifically to their skin type and goals. Other treatment options include The Winter Relief Facial (to soothe and calm sensitive, delicate skin with nourishing treatments) or The Le CouCou Signature Facial (a customized cleansing and masking regimen paired with calming sound and aromatherapy treatments). The spa boasts six treatment rooms, with a wide variety of massage and body treatments as well.
So take off your skis, put on your robe, and join us for the ultimate winter spa experience!

With our own home in Vermont, we know first-hand the negative effects that harsh winter weather can have on the skin. Whether you are hitting the slopes, cozied up by the fireplace, or taking a hot shower at the end of the day, the lack of moisture in the air can suck your skin dry.
To save our skin, we applied our Winter Power Couple religiously throughout the trip: our updated Rejuvenating Serum and our richest moisturizer Creme Riche. Layering these two powerful products protected our skin from the harsh winter climate while also keeping our complexions dewy and bright.
With high-performance ingredients such as dual weight hyaluronic acid, and plumping avocado peptides, we felt confident hitting the slopes with these protective layers of hydration. (We’d be lying if we said we didn't take a few misting selfies with our Hydrating Floral Essence, too!)

All in all, our time spent at Le Coucou was nothing short of a fairytale. With space to take in the incomparable mountainscapes, to unwind in the warmth, and to enjoy good company, this incredible resort quickly became our new home away from home. We truly cannot wait to return to the “slow life” — and we hope that you’ll join us. Until next time, Le Coucou — je t'aime!
