Q&A With ANAT ANAV, WELLNESS DIRECTOR:
Q: How long have you been working here at Jade Signature? Tell us a little about your journey.
A: I’ve been working here since last December, before the building was even opened. My background is actually in fitness and wellness. I started working in the spa industry about 10 years ago after I left the fitness world. When this opportunity came around I was so excited because of Tata Harper. The brand is so fresh and young - it’s very exciting to be a part of this green movement!
Q: What are some of your favorite Tata Harper products?
A: I have so many favorites, but I always say the cleanser has to be the most important - so I love the Purifying Cleanser! You could buy the most expensive products, but if you don’t have a good cleanser to properly absorb the products into your skin, it’s useless.
Q: How many treatments do you recommend for new clients coming in for a facial?
A: They should do at least once a month. Some people like to do once a week facial, but we recommend at least once a month to keep your skin hydrated. We also recommend starting off with 3 - 4 products to maintain for the month in between facials. I see a difference in everyone’s skin immediately after their treatment. We’re also seeing a lot of men really interested in the products too!
Q: You mentioned you came from the fitness and wellness world before you entered into Spa Management. What are some of the rituals you do at home?
A: Each morning & night I try to do the same thing with my skincare routine. I probably do a heavier concentration at night because I like to end with either the Beautifying Face Oil or Retinoic Nutrient Face Oil. Everyone loves the Retinoic Oil, but I keep telling people to try out the Beautifying Face Oil! It’s a little bit lighter, the scent is lighter, it’s just so lovely.
In terms of wellness rituals, I love getting outside for a walk or to take in the beauty of our surroundings. The beach is so accessible - so I try and do yoga on the beach whenever I can!
Q&A With XIMENA IZQUIERDO, FACIALIST:
Q: What’s the most popular skincare treatment here at Jade?
A: By far, our most popular treatment here is the Jade Signature Facial. The Body Treatment is also very popular, and I also love the Body Wrap! Each treatment I give, our clients truly love because the products have so much to give. They capture all of your senses, so whether you’re getting a body treatment or a facial, all of the senses are activated through the aromatherapy. Everything becomes an experience. The scent, the texture - everything is like a ritual.
Q: You mentioned that the Jade Signature treatment is the most popular. What is the most common skin concern that you see?
A: It’s mixed. When people come in for the body treatment, I find that people are seeking a certain type of energy - everyone has a different need. These products are really good for this type of work because they’re uplifting and provide a sensorial experience. I can really see them relax. The smell really helps with relieving stress.
Q: What are your personal favorite Tata Harper products?
A: The Hydrating Floral Essence is my favorite product to work with because it has a mix of key essential oils. Each essential oil creates a balanced rejuvenating experience every time I use it on myself or my clients. It’s a lightweight moisturizer and it goes very deep into the skin. It seals, hydrates and also helps with the pH of the skin. It also has Hyaluronic Acid which is crucial to all skin types.
Q: How many treatments would you recommend to start seeing results?
A: It depends on the type of skin. I do a skin analysis in every session, so once I do that it’s easier to say how many sessions that client might need. Normally I recommend 15 days in between. I recommend the Body Wrap once a month, but the Body Treatment, once a week. It honestly depends on your stress levels. I have clients that come twice a week here because they’re very stressed and they want the release.
Q: What are your at home rituals? Do you practice self care and energy work daily?
A: I actually have a spa at home. I am a clinical massage therapist and facialist. I do high frequency, micro dermabrasion, all of the clinical facial machines, I use at home in my spa. When it comes to massage, I am a medical massage practitioner. I do cupping, acupressure points, energy healing, craniosacral massage, reflexology, etc. You have to be trained in anything you do in this profession because you are moving a lot of toxins out of the body through bodywork.
Q: What do you suggest for people who want to keep this practice up at home and are looking to restore their energy?
A: The most important thing I can stress is doing a deep clean at the end of your day. Take all of your makeup off and detox your pores. Even if you don’t wear makeup, it’s so important to purge pores of any build up from the day. Take your time when you clean your face. Really work in the cleanser. Use a little extra cleanser and no water. The more foam you create, the deeper you can go into the fasha. Once you have a really deep clean, your serums and moisturizers will all penetrate deeper and be even more effective.
