team tata harper loves: our favorite smartphone apps
Happy Friday! Here in Vermont, we’re finally enjoying the first days of some really beautiful spring weather. This time of year always motivates us to get outside, exercise, de-clutter our life and detox our bodies. A few members of Team Tata Harper got together to share their essential smartphone apps that go beyond social media and help us to live happier, healthier lives with just the tap of a button.
Britt, Senior Designer: Staring at a computer screen all day can take a lot out of you, which is why Britt enjoys using the Samsara app to help her meditate and stay focused. Taking some time out of your schedule to enjoy a five or ten minute moment of silence is a great way to balance your mind and keep you motivated during even the busiest of weeks.
Dana, Product Manager: The Strava app is Dana’s pick. This GPS-based app can also be used for cycling, and it collects and stores data on your workouts and allows you to share your workouts with your friends for group training sessions.
Liz, Social Media Manager: Think Dirty has been getting a lot of buzz in the beauty world lately, making it easy to see why Liz chose it as her favorite app. The app itself allows you to scan any beauty product and immediately see a list of the ingredients, and where they’re rated on the “toxic” scale. But be careful–some ingredients that are rated high as being irritants may actually not be chemicals at all, so make sure to always do your research before making any assumptions.
Hannah, Digital Marketing Manager: Hannah’s app of choice is the always popular Map My Run. The Under-Armour owned app allows you to use a map and track the distance you ran, providing you with easy-to-read statistics to help you reach your workout goals.
Taylor, Marketing Associate: Taylor loves Yoga Studio, which is a yoga and meditation app that includes classes ranging from 10 minutes to an hour. They’re perfect to do at the gym for a post-cardio workout boost or as a quick pick-me-up stretch at home!
Katie (me)! Blog Intern: My favorite app right now is Headspace, a meditation app that I like to use first thing in the morning for ten minutes. Once you subscribe, you are able to access hundreds of hours of content in categories like creativity, relationships and addiction, and offers lots of guided meditation for those who are new to the practice.
So, tell us–what are your favorite health and fitness apps?
