Tata Harper Skincare X Tomgirl: Hydration Series
Last month we met up with Gabrielle Kammerer, creator of our absolute favorite–Tomgirl Juice co.– to discuss hydration. Gabrielle showed us some of her favorite juice recipes for intense hydration and we guided her through our most hydrating skincare picks. Read on for Gabrielle’s gorgeous juice recipes and our favorite skin quenching products.
Summertime is ripe for strengthening our knowledge around hydration. Water is what gives our cells structure, helps keep our bodies clean, and our minds sharp. When your body is properly hydrated, everything works better, including cell to cell communication. At Tomgirl Juice Co., we love to promote the development of these healthy habits through the form of nutrient-dense juices and naturally hydrating foods.
Our summer recipes unite flavor with function and here are our favorite recipes to recommend.
JUICES + SPARKLING MINERAL WATERS
Pure cantaloupe juice is our succulent summer skin quencher. We love it because it is nutritionally dense with provitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin B8. It is also rich with digestive enzymes — the highest of any fruit! This juice is best enjoyed in the early morning hours on an empty belly. This is the time when it will perform its hydrating abilities most optimally. We love it because it initiates calm and boosts metabolism and helps convert nutrients into energy.
Habanero Maple Limeade:
Focus is on the fresh capsaicin content and electrolyte-rich lime juice. Lime juice alone inspires mitosis, a cell’s decision to divide and thrive. This limeade is nourishing and deeply hydrating due to its ability to detox your cells and more powerfully replenish your energy with so many good things. Sweat it out and take it in.
Strawberries are a natural source of Biotin, also known as Vitamin B7 — a cofactor that helps our bodies convert carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into energy. It is an extremely valuable nutritional feature that helps our body’s accelerate hair, skin, and nail health. Grapefruits are a natural source of the carotenoid Lycopene — a deep rosey pink pigment that helps build up our skin’s natural defense against the sun. Who knew we could do that? Both fruits are intensely hydrating and contribute deep amounts of Vitamin C which helps fight free radicals and strengthens cells. Feel brightness inside and out!
Vanilla Almond Milk:
We think of this sweet nut milk as the ultimate “vitamin water” with its high nutrient content of zinc, copper, manganese, and electrolytes. Our recipe is also complete with its own calming and aromatherapeutic benefits of Madagascar Vanilla Bean. Drinking almond milk is my way of adding a clean and energizing source of moisture inside my cells that keeps me and my skin feeling soft and supple with its highly bioavailable vitamin E and sprouted plant proteins.
WATER + NUTRIENTS
It’s important to consume more than just water, but also water-rich juices/foods and alkaline forming foods, which help you crave water naturally. Enjoy and feel grateful for the presence of bio photons in raw foods - a source of light emitting properties you can consume.
